Lane Cove’s Planting Seeds Garden was established in early 2016 in Hughes Park Lane Cove and is operated under a licensing agreement with Lane Cove Council.
The garden features a flower shape with different “petal” planters devoted to vegetation that reflect community diversity alongside edible plants.
The garden was constructed by Mirvac staff as part of a community charity day and Glascott Landscape & Civil donated hardscape and other assistance.
There are monthly working bees, community watering rosters and free events to promote ‘Rediscovering Our Roots’ through the garden. Educational events are also held with students from K to Year 10, disabled and disadvantaged groups, pre-schoolers and refugee groups.
FoodFaith has attracted considerable high-profile and local media interest for this garden on ABC Radio National, Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender, and suburban, sustainability and faith-based press.
VOLUNTEERS FOR THE GARDEN MEET ON THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH.
