FoodFaith and FEN’s Breaking Bread initiative is part of the Harmony Day celebrations on Wednesday March 21st, 2018, in Blacktown, hosted by SydWest and the Blacktown Council.
The Breaking Bread project will see members of the local community showcasing their traditional breads from many cultures and faiths. With Afghan, Indigenous, Punjabi, Hindu, Buddhist, Chinese, Muslim, Jewish, Catholic and Uniting cultures and faiths represented, the event is an opportunity to come together to listen and learn from each other in the pursuit of caring for the earth and harmony.
Each group will be offering tasters of their traditional breads while the shared activity of making dips and pesto’s will be taking place to highlight and celebrate the commonalities between all the different cultural and faith groups. The herbs used in these communal activities will be sourced from the Blacktown Showground community gardens, further enhancing the events ties to the community.
The general public is encouraged to come along, taste as many breads as possible and learn about each culture and faith represented during this event celebrating Harmony Day.
