Bread is one of our first foods and continues to create memories as we ‘break bread’ together.
With a video introduction from Indigenous historian and author of Dark Emu, Bruce Pascoe, FoodFaith’s diverse panel of experts includes, Dr Kate Howell, Slow Grain and Professor of Agriculture, the well-known food writer, Helen Greenwood, social justice bakers, the Bread and Butter Project, which provides training and employment pathways for refugees and asylum seekers, and Laya Slavin, of Our Big Kitchen, a community run, non-denominational industrial kitchen where meals are prepared for distribution to needy people across Sydney alongside FoodFaith founder and social sustainability expert Judy Friedlander.
Moderated by Deputy Mayor of the City of Sydney, Councillor Jess Miller, you will be taken on an international and fascinating afternoon of bread education. You’ll receive a bread tasting box to take home featuring five different types of ‘breads’ – including specially baked bread from native grains.
This event is part of the Sydney Friends of Good Food Month event series. Places are limited.
